The Dashing White Sergeant

A few weeks ago, I posted about the Orcadian Strip the Willow and said it was my favorite Strip the Willow. “The Dashing White Sergeant” is the reason the Orcadian is not my absolute favorite Ceilidh Dance, mostly because this one is (at least for now).

The Dashing White Sergeant is more complicated than the Orcadian and requires at least six people. With some spinning, quick steps, and a relatively fast pace if you’re the center of each group of three, it can be quite exciting, although some people apparently think it’s boring (and it’s not technically Scottish).

I’m hoping with some time in Glasgow and some Scottish country dancing lessons I’ll be able to have a new, undeniably exciting favorite.
